Reiki FAQ:

Please note, some of these answers vary by practitioner. How I set the tone around my practice it vastly different from other practitioners.

1. How do I pronounce Reiki? "Ray-key"

2. Do I need to undress for a Reiki session? Absolutely not. It is also not an option to undress to your under clothes or skin.

3. How long does it take to receive Reiki? Reiki sessions are offered in time intervals based on how deeply the person would like to go with their healing. Reiki itself begins to "flow" or is activated immediately, the time frame is usually how long it takes for people to release any inner resistance to balancing.

4. Are there any side effects? Side effects to balancing are possible and can range widely depending on a number of factors. The most common responses are relaxed, sleepy, hungry, feeling lighter or like you've dropped baggage. Some people have to pee, fart, yawn, stretch, poop, sneeze, some male get erections due to increased blood flow, anything that is a release. There are no side effects that will make you sick or feel sick, this would be the opposite of what Reiki promotes.

5. What will it feel like to get Reiki? This varies by both practitioner and with where you are in life. Reiki balances you, with where you truly need to be balanced at that point in your life. You could have a Reiki session once a month for a year and each time feel different depending on what is actively being worked on at that point in your life. The absence of feeling anything does not mean that the Reiki isn't "on" or activating, it's simply a different experience. As far as my own, many people report feeling heat or describe my hands to feel like heating pads, or the emotional feeling of getting into a soothing warm bath. The heat comes with a gently feeling of well being. Those are just the most common explanations given by my clients and students.

6. Are you transferring your energy or taking mine? Absolutely not. I am a straw, universal life force is the water, and I am what you use to get the water. You are doing the healing (drinking the water), I am the tool used to get what you need (the straw), to help balance you out (quench your thirst).

7. Where does Reiki come from, is it religious? Not at all. Reiki itself means universal life and energy. It is also not affiliated with any religion. I have given Reiki to Atheists and it still have the same effects. People chose to believe it comes from God, some other form of Deity or other means. These beliefs do not take away from your experience and for some it enhances it.

8. Do I have to do anything special before a treatment? No. I do suggest wearing something comfortable to help you relax more.

9. Am I sitting, standing or laying down? I have a padded massage table that I use for Reiki, most clients lay down either face up or face down, depending on comfort. I encourage my clients to do pick a comfortable positions whether that's sitting, standing or a yoga position on the floor. The focus is being in a position that helps your relax and you are allowed to change it during the session.

10. Am I allowed to talk? I don't mind my clients laughing, talking and asking questions during their session. Some people are silent and or fall asleep, others are awake and have questions. Neither make a difference to the treatment or to me.

11. Will there be background music? I let my clients pick whatever they want to listen to. It's important to create the most enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere possible for you. I've treated patients to metal, hip hop, reggae, old school, classical, jazz, and more. I don't have a preference and neither does Reiki.

12. Are the lights on or off? Which ever you would like. I do recommend against total darkness for the sake of not

13. Do you have to touch me? No. If there is an area that is uncomfortable to touch in any way then I will hover my hands about 6 inches from your body.

14. What do I do during the session? Whatever you'd like. When treating children, they sometimes color in coloring books while getting Reiki. The goal is to relax, less is more with adults.

15. Do I have to turn my phone off? It's beneficial to have it at least on silent. It's important to dedicate time to yourself and your healing.

16. Can you tell me what's wrong with me? As part of the practice of Reiki, I do not diagnose. I can tell you want I see and feel before, after or during your session, however what I tell you should not take the place of what's being prescribed or told to you by a professional health care provider. What you do with the information is at your discretion.

17. Will you be able to heal my physical ailments or my emotions? Reiki can help but it is not guaranteed to outright heal someone. I have seen it happen, however the point of Reiki is to balance, some ailments come with lessons and a due process with how to heal them. It's most important to release expectations about your session. You will be the most open to more possibilities and really enhance your experience.

18. I'm nervous about getting Reiki. That is normal, you will be fine.

19. Does it go against my religion to receive Reiki? No. Reiki has no religious affiliation and it is not the work of witchcraft. It's similar to the laying of hands but again has no affiliation with any spiritual beliefs.

20. Will you be able to read my thoughts or see personal things that I don't want anyone to know? It's possible, however I have a personal moral standard that despite anything that I may perceive from you, it does not adversely effect your visit or my views of you personally. I mind my own energetic business and any where you are not willing to go within your conflicts we do not have to explore that area.

Readings FAQ:

Please note, some of these answers vary by reader. How I set the tone around my practice it vastly different from other practitioner

1. What do you use to do your readings? I use oracle cards along with my own abilities to conduct readings. My card readings are done with oracle cards that I routinely bless and have used for years, some for decades. As a personal preference, I do not use tarot cards for readings.

2. Are readings against my religion? Unless your religion specifically states do not receive card readings, the answer is no. My readings are spiritual, however the messages come through tailored to where your beliefs are.

3. Who am I asking? Am I speaking to the cards, you or some kind of God? The cards are just objects, I'm fine with you asking me, God or the Universe, because your answer may come out of me, however ultimately it's from all of those things and more speaking through me to you. Otherwise ut depends on who or what, you want the answer from.

4. Where do you get your "psychic information" from? Spirit or "God" is where my answers come from.  Despite my beliefs running parallel to many practices such as Christianity and Buddhism. I personally do not identify or practice an organized religion. My beliefs do not effect your readings if they do not align with yours. It has not baring or effect on the outcomes of what your messages are.

5. Do I have to ask a question? Preferably. The most basic general one you can ask is "What do I need to know at this point in my journey to keep moving in a good direction?". Not asking some form of a question is equivalent to calling someone for no particular reason and expecting a stimulating conversation.

6. What if I only have a yes or no question? I do "either/or" questions. There are no such things as future yes or no questions in readings. Usually, the question is "either/or" when in future tense. This is because there are very few things that are concrete or "set in stone" on our paths. Free will negates there being yes or no, unless your question is about something that is literally already happening in the present moment, such as is my hair brown, or am I at work.

7. Can you do mediumship? I can and do, however spirits are complicated as they are not always willing to speak, have nothing to say or sometimes the energy of the person channeled is less than welcoming. My voice does not change, stuff won't fly across the room. Sometimes there are subtle shifts or movements that occur but not frequently enough to say it's normal with contact. It's like placing a phone call: you call with a purpose and someone may or may not answer. If I am giving a reading and a spirit comes around and wants their presence to be known, I will inform you and go from there with any messages. There is no additional charge when this happens.
